Remote work and work-life balance

Remote work offers many benefits and opportunities one of the main ones is to have a work-life balance. It allows us to organize better the time of the working day and personal life. Thus obtaining a better quality of life, reflected in motivation and work productivity.

More and more companies are offering the possibility of teleworking to their employees. As well as allowing family reconciliation, it provides other benefits for employees and the company.

Teleworking as a tool for work-life balance

In Spain, women suffer the most from work-life balance problems. Eighty percent of working women say they have problems balancing work and life. Mainly because in the majority of families, it is still women who are the ones who carry most of the family burden.

The employee can better manage their time if teleworking days are organized appropriately. They can enjoy their hobbies, enjoy their family and spend time on what they like to do. It translates into a higher quality of life, happiness, and productivity.

It is where the natural work-life balance lies. Not being dependent on strict working hours and having more flexibility are synonymous, as long as you achieve results at work, with dedicating more time to your family. Therefore, this form of employment is prevalent among workers with small children or dependent family members.

Benefits for employees and companies

The National Institute for Health and Safety at Work lists the many benefits that the implementation of work-life balance policies generates both on an individual level and for companies themselves:

  • Improved personal satisfaction and motivation.
  • Improved health and well-being of workers.
  • Improved quality of life for workers.
  • Strengthening employee loyalty and attracting and retaining key workers.
  • Increased customer satisfaction.
  • It improved the company’s image, reputation, and prestige, increasing its attractiveness to future employees and customers.
  • Increased rate of return and reduced replacement and leave costs.
  • It has increased the efficiency and competitiveness of the company.

In addition, there are also many, though less widespread, benefits that are teleworking brings to companies, such as increased productivity.

In conclusion, the key for companies to have happy employees translates directly into higher productivity. Well-designed teleworking hours help enormously to achieve a better work-life balance. And this is undoubtedly good for both employees and employers.
